CHARLESTON —
ykel Collier led four Bluefield players in double figures with 17 points and the top-seeded Beavers beat North Marion 62-51 in the Class AA quarterfinals Thursday night.
Bluefield (23-3) advanced to the semifinals for the second straight year.
Bluefield led 29-23 at halftime and never trailed in the second half.
North Marion outrebounded Bluefield 48-38 but was outscored 20-3 from the free-throw line.
Anthony Eades added 15 points for Bluefield. Corey Coppola and D.J. Edwards each scored 13. Michael Yost had 10 rebounds.
Matt Cain had 16 points and 12 rebounds while Cody Opron had 11 points and 11 rebounds for eighth-seeded North Marion (16-9).
North Marion had reached the tournament for the first time since 2004.
