In its 22nd year, the annual Brian Jozwiak Celebrity Golf Classic continues to grow.
A record field of 25 teams took part in Friday’s fundraising tournament at Green Hills Country Club.
“No. 22. What’s so special is that this thing just won’t die,” said Jozwiak, the All-America lineman who wrapped up his West Virginia University football career in 1985. “Every year, we evolve, as everything does. You question, ‘Do we go another year?’ As you can see by the reception here, we have to keep going. It has history. It has become part of what we do.”
The tournament continues a tradition dating back to Jozwiak’s Mountaineer career under coach Don Nehlen, support for WVU Children’s Hospital. It is also now involved with the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund established at WVU by men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins in honor of his late mother, who was lost to cancer.
