PITTSBURGH —
Elijah Macon, one of West Virginia’s top recruits for next season, underwent surgery on Thursday morning to repair a broken arm, according to his Twitter account.
Macon reportedly injured the left arm while dunking a basketball.
Macon played this past year at Huntington Prep.
A 6-8, 210-pound power forward out of Columbus, Ohio, Macon ranked 42nd on the ESPN Top 100 recruits list.
He signed a letter of intent to attend WVU on Sept. 23, 2011.

Being a 10th seed was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who also were seeded 10th in 1998 … a memorable year for the school’s basketball program and a tough year for Bob Huggins.
WVU beat Temple and Cincinnati, coached by Huggins and thought to have a chance at the national championship that season before suffering a tough defeat to Rick Majerus and Utah.
The victory over Cincinnati was memorable for it came on Jarrod West’s last-second basket on a long, desperation 3-point shot.

This was a benchmark tournament for Huggins, as it was his 20th NCAA appearance. He took three different schools to the NCAAs — Akron, Cincinnati and WVU. That ranks fifth among all active coaches.
He also has been all five years that he has coached at WVU.
By losing to Gonzaga in the second round cost Huggins a milestone as it would have given him his seventh consecutive 20-victory season. He has had 24 seasons of 20 or more victories as a college coach.
We always knew Kevin Jones and Truck Bryant were in a class by themselves — they are the only seniors on this year’s WVU team — but we didn’t know how much.
According to research by Jack Bogaczyk of the Charleston Daily Mail they are the highest-scoring senior duo in the same graduating class ever at the school Jones had 1,822 points for his career and Bryant 1,590, giving them 3,412 combined career points.
Jones ranks fifth all-time at WVU and Bryant 14th.
Earlier in the year they passed Greg Jones (1,797) and Russel Todd (1,350), who combined for 2,147 points from 1980 to 1983.

Kevin Jones ended his career by 84 minutes over the final two games and of the last 22 games of his career he played 39 or more minutes in 18 of them.
