United Way, WVU men’s basketball team up for annual camp

FAIRMONT — The West Virginia University men’s basketball team and the United Way joined efforts for their annual WVU Basketball Clinic & Team Signing at West Fairmont Middle School on Saturday.

For the fifth year in a row, the WVU basketball team and the United Way have touched the lives of children throughout Marion County.

More than 70 participants enjoyed the camp experience.

“This is something that we’ve done for the past five years and anytime where you can work with kids, maybe you can influence them,” said WVU men’s assistant basketball coach Erik Martin.

“This camp is tremendous for the young children,” United Way executive director Tiffany Samuels added. “They’re enthusiastic and they get to know the WVU basketball players, and the players do an awesome job with the kids.”
