CHARLESTON — A health care advocacy group says the life expectancies of West Virginians should be a matter of urgent concern for the state.
West Virginians for Affordable Health Care plans to release a report Thursday detailing what the group says is alarming evidence that Mountain State residents are falling behind the rest of the country in average lifespans.
Perry Bryant, the group’s executive director, said the data is particularly alarming for the trends it reveals among women.
West Virginia has high rates of a number of health problems that can lead to life-shortening illnesses like heart disease, lung cancer and Type 2 diabetes.
