Fairmont Senior baseball team started off its weekend on the right foot — and with little resistance from Roane County — as it rolled to a home doubleheader sweep, 10-0 and 14-1, both wrapping up in five innings, at Mary Lou Retton Park.
Bees double up Indians
East Fairmont’s softball team closed the regular season the right way on Saturday, edging host Bridgeport for a 4-2 victory.
“It was a really well played ball game,” East coach John Postlewait of of his team, which didn’t commit an error all night.

Fairmont Senior’s boys’ tennis team completed play in the Big 10 tournament on Friday and Saturday at Robert C. Byrd.

His North Marion baseball team was gutted by graduation, lost a popular assistant coach in Steve Harbert and the aftershocks have been felt all season, as the Huskies sat at 2-17 heading into Friday.
Polar Bears split DH with Mohigans
The Fairmont Senior High School baseball team toed the line Thursday against the Mohigans, a Class AAA powerhouse from Morgantown.
In the first game of the doubleheader, FSHS rallied from behind to win, 5-4; but in the second, Fairmont Senior was defeated, 15-5.

North Marion softball tamed the Polar Bears — again.
For the second time this season, the Huskies had their way with Fairmont Senior, rolling to a 22-0, three-inning rout on Thursday in Rivesville.

East Fairmont’s softball team dropped a back-and-forth home slugfest to Braxton County, 15-14, on Wednesday.
"We made it hard on ourselves,” East coach John Postlewait said. “We extended our innings and they have a lot of good hitters and capitalized on our mistakes.”
Huskies fall at UHS
After a big win a day earlier over Lincoln, North Marion’s softball team failed to keep the momentum going on Tuesday in a 8-0 road loss at University.
The Huskies, now 19-11 on the season, were held to just three hits on the afternoon.

Saturday afternoon officially kicked off Fairmont Little League’s season, with opening day ceremonies held at Mary Lou Retton Park.

On a brisk early Saturday morning, it took the East Fairmont softball team a few innings to get warmed up.
During the first game of a doubleheader against Oak Glen, the Bees were defeated, 7-6.
