COLUMN: What will Huskies, Bears do in third act?

FAIRMONT — You know how the saying goes. Once is a fluke, twice is a trend and three times is ...

Three is, well, I’m not sure. What do you call doing something three times?

In the case of North Marion’s boys’ basketball team, No. 3 — that is, a third win over county rival Fairmont Senior this season — means the kids from Rachel will be sectional champions.

The Huskies will get that chance when they host FSHS in tonight’s Region I, Section 1 final.

And while the game is meaningless in the grand scheme of things — win or lose tonight, both are playing next week for a spot in the state tournament — it means everything for those in black or blue.

    Fairmont Senior’s senior phenom Nick Trefz can now call himself a state champion in track.
    Trefz took home the gold in the 3,200 meters in Charleston on Friday with a time of 9:36.21.
