FAIRMONT — From the opening tip Fairmont Senior was a step behind Big 10 rival Robert C. Byrd on Wednesday night.
The two teams last met in Clarksburg with the Flying Eagles holding on for a hard-fought 1-point win.
And Friday night the Polar Bears didn’t look ready to play as they fell to the Flying Eagles, 56-46.
“We got out-hustled, out-scored and out-played as a whole,” Fairmont Senior head coach Corey Hines said. “I think some of us expected them to come out and roll over. That didn’t happen. They came and wanted it a little more.”
The Flying Eagles went up 5-0 in the first as the Bears struggled to find any consistency on offense.
Turnovers started to mount up, but despite that fact FSHS held a 12-10 advantage after the first period.
But things fell apart in the second.
