FAIRMONT —
Sure, Week 3 might seem a tad early to be labeling certain games as “must-win.” But there is no denying that Friday’s contest with Robert C. Byrd at Husky Field carries more weight than most.
“It becomes a pretty crucial game for us if we’re still looking at postseason,” North’s second-year coach Daran Hays said.
And it’s reached that point due to the Huskies’ winless start.
Sitting at 0-2 after losses to state-ranked University and Fairmont Senior, a third straight defeat would put a huge dent in their playoff hopes. After RCB, North still must play traditional Class AAA powers Morgantown and Bridgeport, along with a pair of improved teams in Buckhannon-Upshur and Elkins.
