RACHEL — North Marion’s football team sent its seniors out right.
The Huskies got a jolt from their newfound run game, sprinkled in some big plays and timely defense and closed the season Friday with a 21-3 romp over Grafton at Husky Field.
The victory, the team’s second straight after a winless start, wrapped up North’s season at 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the Big 10.
It’s the first 2-8 campaign in school history, but fourth-year coach Daran Hays focused on the positives once the scoreboard hit zeros on Friday.
“Everybody knew this was a rebuilding year when you look at things, and I’ll say it again — we could have very easily won six ball games,” Hays said. “There are definitely a lot of positives to take and a good way to send the seniors out.”
