FAIRMONT — For Fairmont Senior and other area football teams, the work never ends.
Lifting weights has become a year-round duty, while the recently completed three-week, out-of-season coaching period has provided a small glimpse of what’s ahead.
While some schools might know what the future holds to an extent, the Polar Bears remain a work in progress. Then again, an adjustment period is expected considering the offseason losses — 18 graduating seniors, 10 of which were starters a year ago.
No position signifies the wind of change more than along the offensive line, where Fairmont Senior returns just one starter in senior center Christian Cummings.
Coach J.L. Abbott isn’t quite sure who will emerge, but believes there’s plenty of competition for the four spots upfront.
