FAIRMONT — Coach Jamie Fitch isn’t shy when talking about the Fairmont 11-12-year-old Little League All-Stars’ hitting skills.
“They can mash the ball, that’s for sure,” he said.
A fastball over the plate, something slow down low, the whole lineup seems to have a knack for putting bat on ball.
The All-Stars continued their hot hitting Wednesday night at Mary Lou Retton Park, using a huge fifth inning to roll past Shinnston, 12-6. The team concludes pool play at 2 p.m. Sunday when it hosts Lewis County.
They’ll go into the contest with plenty of momentum, especially on offense. Fairmont has scored 31 runs in its past two games and finished with 16 hits against Shinnston.
