BRIDGEPORT — The Fairmont 10-11 All-stars have advanced to the District 5 Finals beginning in Bridgeport tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Fairmont made their way into the finals after a pair of four-inning games.
In the first game Fairmont defeated the Lewis County All-stars, 12-2, behind the strong pitching performance of Tanner Lambert. Lambert went the distance striking out five batters while only giving up only two hits and one base on balls.
Damien Davis, Tyler Butler and Ryan Ricer led Fairmont at the plate, each hitting a double. Others collecting singles for Fairmont were Lambert (2), Ricer, Joel Rogers, Tanner Barnes and Cam Stewart.
In their second game Fairmont broke out the bats collecting 19 hits, including 11 extra base hit in 16-1 win over Upshur County. Lambert and Barnes each collected their first home runs of the season while while Butler, Davis and Ricer each hit triples. Dalton Michael stroked a pair of doubles and was followed by Davis, Butler, Barnes and Jacob Monell who each had one. Cam Stewart and Ricer each picked up a pair of singles while Lambert, Butler and Nick Mazelon each had one.
Ricer and Monell combined to strike out six batters while giving up only four hits to the Upshur County All-stars.
