FAIRMONT —
Week 3 of the high school football season brings with it a little bit of change.
This Friday night, normally the domain of prep football, will not be the same as any other Friday. For you see, the Friends of Coal Bowl, which pits West Virginia’s two Division I universities — West Virginia University and Marshall — against each other on the gridiron, will be played Friday night at in Huntington.
Needless to say, the bitter showdown between these two teams would hit high school football attendance hard on Friday. So there was a lot of scrambling and moving of games.
