It’s time to put away the helmets and shoulder pads and hit the hardwood because high school basketball season tips off tonight in Marion County.
Defending Class AAA girls’ champion and preseason No. 1 North Marion hosts North Central Athletic Conference foe Buckhannon-Upshur at 7:30 p.m.
The Huskies have historically had little trouble with the Buccaneers, including a near 100-point victory two seasons ago.
North has the core of last season’s championship team back, missing only Tiffany Nicholson, who is now playing for Fairmont State University.
Led by seniors Kelsi Wright, Jessica Parsons and Kaitlyn Antolock as well as juniors Mariah Byard and Hailey Garrett, the Huskies will be looking to open their title defense with a bang.
