South girls roll to all-star sweep

FAIRMONT — Saturday’s North-South all-star girls’ soccer games had a decidely southern feel.

Both games were well-played, low-scoring affairs, and the South rolled to a sweep at East-West Stadium.

The South nabbed a 2-0 victory in the Class AA/A contest, and followed with a 3-2 win in the Class AAA nightcap.

In the Class AAA game, Cabell Midland’s Kelsey Matthews scored the tying goal and the Cardinals tacked on another score with three minutes remaining to take the lead for good.

Hurricane’s Becca Logan added a goal for the South, which led 1-0 at intermission.
