FAIRMONT — This weekend, the state’s soccer stars will descend on East-West Stadium for annual the North-South All-Star games.
It marks the fifth consecutive year Fairmont has hosted the all-senior event, which is not affiliated with the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission but rather the West Virginia High School Soccer Coaches Association.
The Class AA-A girls game is set for 1 p.m. today, with the Class AAA girls to follow at 3 p.m. The boys will play the same schedule on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s been fun,” North-South game chairman and Fairmont Senior assistant boys’ soccer coach Darrin Paul said. “We’ve been fortunate to have our seniors in the game the last five years, and it brings in a lot of people to the area.”
