CHARLESTON — Dakota Sanders booted a tie-breaking 19-yard field goal with 4:55 left and Raymond Coleman later added a 2-yard touchdown run Friday night as South Charleston cut short a Martinsburg rally for a 38-28 victory in the Class AAA playoff quarterfinals at Laidley Field.
South Charleston (11-1), the No. 2 seed, plays Saturday’s winner between No. 3 Bridgeport (11-0) and No. 6 George Washington (9-2) in next week’s semifinals.
Tyler Harris threw three TDs for the Black Eagles and completed 13-of-22 passes for 256 yards. He also ran 16 times for 120 yards.
Class AA - Frankfort 35, PikeView 14
SHORT GAP — Jeremy Miltenberger scored four touchdowns — two rushing, two receiving — as the Frankfort Falcons cruised to a 35-14 win over the PikeView Panthers at Falcons Stadium in the Class AA quarterfinals on Friday night.
Miltenberger rushed for 70 yards on 13 carries and caught three balls for 72 yards.
James Jones passed for 128 yards and two scores.
Class A - Wheeling Central 28, Williamstown 14
WILLIAMSTOWN — No. 5 Wheeling Central scored the only two touchdowns of the second half here Friday night to beat No. 4 Williamstown (9-3) and assure that Class A will have a new state champion.
The Maroon Knights (9-3) broke a 14-14 tie with 3:59 remaining in the third quarter when Central quarterback Zack Hood, facing a fourth down and 6 situation at the Williamstown 16, avoided a sack and found Jordan Sorge wide open for a 16-yard TD and a 21-14 lead.
Wheeling Central will meet No. 1 Madonna (12-0), a 48-0 winner over Tucker County on Friday night, next week at Jimmy Carey Stadium in Weirton.
