FAIRMONT — For all his rough and tumble runs, it is fair to say running back isn’t even Remington Skarzinski’s best position on a football field.
That would be linebacker, where the Fairmont Senior standout is a hard-hitting playmaker and among the leaders of an improved defensive unit.
But what exactly makes him so good? And why is the 5-10, 205-pound senior likely a top candidate for the Huff Award, given to the state’s top high school defensive player?
"One reason is his work ethic,” Fairmont Senior coach J.L. Abbott said.
Skarzinski is a weight lifting fanatic, and it shows.
