RACHEL — Bridgeport completed its first unbeaten regular season since 2001 with a convincing 53-15 win over North Marion here on a chilly “Senior Night” at Husky Field Friday evening.
The Indians, who were ranked second in the state in Class AAA coming into the contest, finished the regular season at 10-0. Bridgeport will likely finish third in the final SSAC rankings and host a first-round playoff game next week against No. 14 Parkersburg. Bridgeport’s last state title came in 2000 when it was competing in the Class AA ranks.
North Marion, meanwhile, ended the season with its fourth consecutive loss. The Huskies finished 3-7, which was a marked improvement for a program which had won just one game in its previous three seasons.
