WHITE HALL — Needless to say, this week wasn’t the first time Chelsea Clark thought about winning a regional cross country title.
When one begins a prep career in the fashion the Fairmont Senior standout did — taking fifth in the 2006 regional as a freshman — big things are expected.
Now a senior, Clark knows how close she’s come to winning this race. And she knew Thursday’s Class AAA, Region I meet provided one last chance to make it happen.
Well, it finally happened.
The Polar Bear senior obliterated the girls’ field en route to a first-place finish at Apple Valley Golf Course to highlight a strong day for Marion County teams and individuals.

The Huskies were led by Shawn Elliott, who finished with a team best 13 points and three rebounds. -

Fairmont Senior ran its dual-match record to 28-11 Thursday night with a hard-fought 37-29 victory over cross-town rival East Fairmont.
The Polar Bears, who dropped out of the wvmat.com state rankings this week, won eight matches and notched four falls. -
