FAIRMONT —
Twenty-second massacre.
For East Fairmont wrestling, that’s how the first day of regionals began.
It wasn’t a massacre for them; however, it was a torturous experience for their opponents.
First, Garrett Onderko slid past his opponent; then, Jesse Roman toyed with his — winning by fall in less than a minute and a half; and Logan Bowman caped the event off in fashion, while demolishing his opponent in 20 seconds.
“We had five guys in the top seeds,” East’s head coach John Geary said. “They all won and we are expecting them to win tomorrow. They have some tough matches — we have some head-to-head matches against North and West. That’s where we’re going to win or lose the regional, in the semifinals.”
Because of multiple players coming up big, they’ve managed to become the front-runners in the tournament.
