FAIRMONT —
The moment he steps foot in North Marion High School, history surrounds Mike Parrish.
It’s there when he walks past the row of trophy cases near the main entrance. When he goes to the locker room, where extra state champion T-shirts are strewn around even years later. And when the Huskies’ veteran coach makes his way to the gym, as championship banners line the walls on either side of him.
“We had some good times,” Parrish said of North Marion’s remarkable run from 2008-11 that brought three straight Class AAA state girls’ basketball titles home to Rachel.
Make that great times.
Thanks to a group of tight-knit players that boasted equal amounts talent and tenacity, along with Parrish’s steady guidance, the Huskies had among the greatest runs of any Marion County team, regardless of sport or era or gender.
• During their span of title-winning seasons, from winter 2008 to the spring of 2011, the Huskies lost just twice.
