PLEASANT VALLEY — Two years ago, Fairmont Senior’s wrestling team came to East Fairmont and knocked off the No. 2 Bees.
When the Polar Bears showed up on Senior Night this year, head coach John Geary and the Bees were ready for them.
The Bees took seven of the contested weight classes for a 41-29 win Tuesday.
“We gave them a few forfeits, but our boys wrestled well,” Geary said. “I told them we needed their best efforts tonight, and they brought it.”
The only sticking point for Geary was that standout Hunter Wood’s match at 125 against Joel Garcia was stopped because of a clock malfunction as Wood was attempting to pin Garcia.
Wood was awarded a tech fall win — five points for the team score instead of six for a pin.
