EFHS girls’ soccer team poised and ready for action

FAIRMONT — Hard work and being in shape is the method that coach Mark Harvath has been preaching to the East Fairmont girls’ soccer team.

“Our mentality this year is to stay within ourselves.” said Harvath. “I like to approach the game with fitness.”

Even though Harvath had the June period to prepare for August and the upcoming fall season, he made sure that the Bees took a different approach in regard to the three-week grace period.

“You can’t get too much into fitness obviously in the June open period because if they don’t continue with it, they’re going to lose it by the time August rolls around anyway,” said Harvath. “Instead, you want to get them started and get them in a field and make sure they have a good mindset, so they can see the benefits and continue that throughout the rest of the summer. If they come to camp in shape, then you can jump right into the tactical side of the game, which is very important.”
