Bees’ teamwork results in Big 10 soccer championship

FAIRMONT — Truth be told, East Fairmont’s 2-0 win over Bridgeport on Tuesday was not your typical boys’ soccer victory.

No, this one was different.

Way different.

It moved the Bees to 13-2-2 on the year. It was their eighth shutout. And it upped their winning streak to three games and gave them an another jolt of confidence going into next week’s sectional tournament.

But most of all, this one was historic.

With the win at a chilly East-West Stadium, East Fairmont clinched its first boys’ soccer conference title.

    Trefz took home the gold in the 3,200 meters in Charleston on Friday with a time of 9:36.21.

    That’s exactly what former Fairmont Senior first baseman Tyler Walter did during his freshman season at Hagerstown Community College in Maryland.
    “I wanted to get an opportunity and needed to prove that I belonged,” Walter said.
