FAIRMONT —
A title contender during most of its time running with West Virginia’s big schools, the Fairmont Senior boys’ cross country team seems primed to do a little more than just contend this weekend.
After all, today’s state meet at Cabell Midland is the Polar Bears’ first foray in a Class AA-A championship race. And in a season marked by steady improvement, FSHS is the runaway favorite to take home the team title.
The boys’ Class AA-A race will kick off the meet at 10 a.m.
The Polar Bears are fresh off their first boys’ regional crown since 2009 and had five athletes finish in the top 20 last week.
