BRIDGEPORT —
While this has been a typical Bridgeport season in some respects — the Indians had winning record, earned a playoff spot and ripped off a lot of running plays along the way — the way it entered the Class AA playoffs was far from normal.
With the Indians’ Week 11 contest at Preston ruled a no-contest due to recent weather issues, the team truly hadn’t played since Oct. 26, leaving open the possibility of some postseason rust come Saturday afternoon versus River View.
Instead, Bridgeport left the No. 14 seed Raiders in the dust.
The Indians used a quick start en route to a 54-6 blowout victory at Wayne Jamison Field.
Bridgeport (8-2), making its 20 straight playoff appearance and in its 65th postseason game all-time, ran for 376 yards as a team.

Polar Bears set for Oak Glen today
Oak Glen is next on the menu for the Fairmont Senior baseball squad.
With the 11-0 win over Braxton County on Tuesday evening, and Oak Glen’s eight-inning 2-1 win over Ritchie County, the two teams find themselves squaring off against one another while fighting for a spot to play in the state tournament. -
East’s Summers signs to play softball at FSU
East Fairmont softball player Kayla Summers always dreamed about playing softball in college.
On Tuesday, Summers signed her letter of intent to play at Fairmont State University.
“Ever since I started playing softball, I always told my parents that I was going to go to college and play softball,” she said. -

Fairmont Senior High School’s baseball team leveled Braxton County in the Class AA semi-regionals Tuesday evening, 11-0.

Horton signs with Fairmont State
One Fairmont Senior basketball player’s dreams of playing in college has become a reality.
On Tuesday, Travon Horton signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Fairmont State University.
He said staying in Fairmont means a lot because of the support he has. -

Fairmont Senior’s five-year state championship streak in lacrosse came to an abrupt end against an undefeated (15-0) Mohigan team on Saturday afternoon, 12-9. -

This time, it was the 4 x 100- and 4 x 200-meter relay teams that brought home the gold at the state meet Saturday in Charleston. -
Trefz wins state title in 3,200 meter
Winning it all.
Fairmont Senior’s senior phenom Nick Trefz can now call himself a state champion in track.
Trefz took home the gold in the 3,200 meters in Charleston on Friday with a time of 9:36.21. -
Polar Bears cruise past Notre Dame
Polar Bear baseball gets it done yet again.
During exhibition play against Notre Dame on Friday evening, Fairmont Senior was able to keep its eight-game winning streak alive. -
Tyler Walter making most of opportunity in college
Take the opportunity and run.
That’s exactly what former Fairmont Senior first baseman Tyler Walter did during his freshman season at Hagerstown Community College in Maryland.
“I wanted to get an opportunity and needed to prove that I belonged,” Walter said. -
