FSHS falls to Mohigans in regional

FAIRMONT — After two hard-fought games between Fairmont Senior and Morgantown, there was little doubt that Tuesday’s Class AAA, Region I final would be another.

MHS’ Sam Runner blocked Logan Moore’s potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Mohigans rallied for a 43-41 win and a berth in next week’s Class AAA boys’ state tournament in Charleston.

The Polar Bears had a shot at the win but Ty Garrison’s 3-pointer was off the mark. Senior Gannon Flowers pulled down the offensive rebound and fed it to Moore, only to see the shot blocked by Runner as the buzzer sounded.

The Bears end the season with a 16-5 record.

    It was Senior Night for the North Marion Huskies, and senior Paige Tuttle came up big in her final regular-season game in front of the home crowd.
    While Tuttle didn’t lead the team in scoring, her play on defense and ball-handling skills helped the Huskies break open a close game in the fourth quarter on Thursday to defeat rival East Fairmont, 68-57.

    Fairmont State University added Malnick to its list of recruits who have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Falcons this fall.
