Huskies fall to Indians, 45-40: PHOTOS

Bees topple Elkins at home

RACHEL — Anna Moscufo led North Marion with 19 points in first game back from injury, but it wasn’t enough for the Huskies in a 45-40 home loss to state-ranked Bridgeport.

“We missed a couple one-and-ones and had some close looks that didn’t go in,” North coach Mike Parrish said. “We played hard. It was one of those close games all the way.”

Miki Glenn paced Bridgeport with 27 points.

No other details were available at press time.

North, now 4-4 overall, hosts Liberty on Wednesday.

Bees top Elkins

PLEASANT VALLEY — East Fairmont’s girls’ basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 42-34 home win over Elkins on Friday night.

“It was a good win for us,” East coach Bill Malone said. “We got down and were able to hold on.”

East led 10-8 after one period, had a 16-14 lead by halftime and eventually bumped the lead to 30-26 after three.

A big reason for that was the Bees’ ability to get to the foul line. After shooting just four foul shots in Wednesday’s loss to Grafton, East took 11 (and made six) freebies in the fourth period alone on Friday.

Brooklynn Weaver returned for East (4-8) and scored a game-high 18 points. Felicity VanGilder added eight and Peyton Ryan had seven.

East visits Buckhannon-Upshur on Wednesday.

Note: Fairmont Senior’s Friday girls’ game was not reported to the Times West Virginian. Coaches are asked to report scores by calling 304-367-2544 or 304-367-2508.
