WESTON —
Try as North Marion’s football team might, attempting to defend a short field made for one long Friday at Lewis County.
The Minutemen used favorable field position to score 30 unanswered points in the second quarter on their way to a 55-0 homecoming rout of North Marion.
Lewis, now 5-2 and 4-0 in Big 10 play, battled the Huskies to a 0-0 tie after the first period. The Minutemen then scored 23 points over the next seven minutes of the second and bumped their lead to a commanding 30-0 by halftime.
The main culprit in keeping North winless — with the defeat, the Huskies dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the league — was most certainly special teams.
