PLEASANT VALLEY — Facing what looked to be a potential loss on Senior Night, East Fairmont had to make something happen in the second half Tuesday against visiting Elkins.
Down by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, the Bees stormed back and shut down the Tigers in the final two periods for a 53-43 win at the Hive.
Elkins (3-17) ran out a 32-24 lead by halftime thanks in large part to some sloppy play by the East Fairmont (9-10) defense. At one point early in the third quarter, the Tigers led 35-25, but that’s when the Bees made their move.
East rattled off eight consecutive points to close the quarter and continued that roll in to the fourth period. Bees head coach Bill Malone said the comeback showed a lot about his senior class.
