Times set for WVU hoops slate

MORGANTOWN — The move to the Big 12 is becoming something of a cultural change for West Virginia University athletics fans.

The football season to date has played out with the Mountaineers playing mostly noon games — this week’s game against Maryland at noon and next week’s Big 12 opener against Baylor also a noon game.

And the basketball schedule, whose times were released on Tuesday, is going to make for a lot of insomniacs, at least during the week.

All three of WVU’s Big Monday games — at home against Kansas and Texas and on the road at Kansas State — will be played at 9 p.m.

So too will all four Big 12 Wednesday road games begin at 9 p.m. Wednesday home games will be played at night with VMI at 7 p.m., TCU at 7:30 p.m., Baylor at 8 p.m., and Oakland at 9 p.m.

But for those of you who like a Saturday night at the Coliseum … well, there are no Saturday night games … at home or away. There are two 1:30 p.m. games on Saturday at the Coliseum, against Oklahoma State and Iowa State, and there are four 4 p.m. games, while the Oklahoma State game in Morgantown will tip off at 2 p.m.

The Marshall game, to be played in Charleston on Dec. 5, will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
