Lower your shoulder and power through the opposing defense is the new motto for Fairmont Senior’s head coach Jared Mileto.
Fairmont Senior believes it is capable of taking the football and pounding it down the opposing team’s throats. With the loss of starting quarterback Austin Norman, the Polar Bears have managed to change their offense from a spread team in the past to an I-formation team with two backs.
“In the off-season, you look at the type of strengths that you’re going to have,” said Mileto. “We try to tailor our offense to our strengths, so the situation we’re in with Norman being down, we had to sit down and re-evaluate what we thought our strengths were. Of course, our two biggest strengths that stick out are those five guys up front on our offensive line, and when everybody’s healthy, the two running backs we have in the backfield in Noah Harmon and Ryder Skarzinski.”

Fairmont Senior’s senior phenom Nick Trefz can now call himself a state champion in track.
Trefz took home the gold in the 3,200 meters in Charleston on Friday with a time of 9:36.21. -

Dropped fly ball gives Pirates 5-4 win over Astros
Jimmy Paredes dropped Russell Martin’s bases-loaded fly ball when he collided with second baseman Jake Elmore with two outs in the ninth inning, the second missed catch by a Houston right fielder, and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied past the Astros 5-4 Friday night.
