8-year-old girl wrestles past competition

FAIRMONT — A girl wrestling?

That’s the question one might ask themselves when watching Madison Jones take the mat.

You see, Jones is an 8-year-old from Fairmont who often levels the competition she faces.

On March 3, she placed in fifth spot out of 26 wrestlers in the 8-year-old, 62-pound weight class at West Virginia Junior State Wrestling Tournament in Parkersburg.

“Madison’s strength, desire to win and the inability to keep her down is amazing,” Mike Jones stated about his daughter.
