CANTON —
Following a disasterous off-season, the New Orleans Saints had the opportunity of redeeming themselves last night during the Pro Football Hall of Fame against the Arizona Cardinals.
Getting the opportunity of playing in their first game without head coach Sean Payton was a tough gig, but with the signing of their star quarterback, Drew Brees, they should be fine throughout the rest of the season.
After the game last night, Saints linebacker, Scott Shanle said, “The Hall of Fame game was nice because it gets us back to playing football after what’s gone on, I think it’s a sanctuary for us.”
Even though the stars of each team only played one series, the events leading up to the big game were enough in themselves.
With all of the sanctions that took place through the off-season, the Saints had to wait the majority of their training sessions with Brees holding out for a long term contract. After a long wait, the Saints finally forked out the money, which was much deserved by Drew Brees. Brees received a five-year, $100 million deal, which is a good for both sides since Brees is happy and the Saints are blessed with a top three quarterback for the next five seasons.
