FAIRMONT — Valley Soccer Academy held its ninth annual summer camp this week at For the Kids Soccer Complex.
On Friday, the camp held its end-of-the-week Euro Cup. Participants were separated into four teams: Germany, Holland, Italy and Spain. Raul Ovalle, president of VSA, said each year they pick teams depending on what’s happening around the world.
“This past summer the European Cup was going on so we decided to do that,” Ovalle said.
Throughout the day, campers participated in different competitions related to soccer and their countries.
To start the day, campers created their own team uniforms for the best uniform competition. Then the games began with capture the flag, where players had to collect soccer balls from other “countries” without getting tagged. Next, teams were split into age groups where they competed against other teams in juggling, dribbling, shooting and passing.
