MORGANTOWN —
It is Christmas Eve, the most wonderful time of year.
Family and friends, gifts and prayers, and Christmas carols being sung by the fire.
These are time tested songs, songs of love for the season, for each other.
An so it is that this Christmas Eve we bring you a songbook of new lyrics for Christmas songs to help you celebrate your Mountaineer Christmas:
Jingle Bells
Dashing to the show
To see the Mountaineers play
Watching Geno throw
Laughing all the way
Tavon takes the ball
Making someone miss
What fun it is to rock and roll
In a New York City bowl.
Ohhhhhh…
Jingle bells, jersey sells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
The MTA today
Hey
Jingle bells, jersey sells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
The MTA today
The Christmas Song, tailgate version
Hot dogs roasting on an open grill
Bud Lite nipping at your nose
Football scores coming over the wire
And folks wearing WVU clothes
Everybody knows a touchdown and a field goal kick
Help to cover today’s spread
Mountaineers, make the Orange sick
With nothing more to be said.
They know that Stedman’s on his way
Keeping tacklers all at bay
And every mother’s child is gonna spy
Watching Bailey, with the football, run on by
And so I’m drawing up some simple plays
For Dana Holgorsen to run
Although it’s been tried different times, different ways
Nehlen’s draw play is still fun.
Santa Claus is coming to (Morgan)town
You better watch out
You better learn to fly
The fans will all shout
I’m telling you why
Aaric Murray’s coming to town
He’s making a fist
Swinging it twice
Through the defenses
He will slice
Aaric Murray’s coming to town
He sees them when they’re creeping
He knows if it’s a zone,
He’s gonna leave them weeping
For a basket he will own.
You better watch out
You better learn to fly
The fans will all shout
I’m telling you why
Aaric Murray’s coming to town
Aaric Murray’s coming to town
I’m Dreaming of a Pat White Christmas
I’m dreaming of a Pat White Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where Steve Slaton’s running
And Patrick’s gunning
With WV leading 10 to Oh.
I’m dreaming of a Pat White Christmas
With every column that I write
May Dana’s plays be tricky and right
And may the
Big 12 title stay in sight.
I’m dreaming of a Pat White Christmas
Just like the ones that made us crow.
Where Owen Schmitt ran wild
To cheers of every child
And to a title game he will go.
I’m dreaming of a Pat White Christmas
With each pass that Geno throws
May their days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white.
To everyone, a Merry Christmas, from Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and, yes, me.
