PLEASANT VALLEY —
To get to where he believes his North Marion boys’ basketball team could go this season — Class AA state tournament in Charleston — veteran coach Chris Freeman wants to keep building.
The Huskies have taken some big steps so far this season. They swept the season series with Fairmont Senior. They’ve won on the road at places like Lewis County and are arguably playing their best ball of 2012-13 during the current stretch run.
On Saturday night, North crossed another item off its season checklist, using defense to down host East Fairmont, 62-52.
The victory, which moved the Huskies to 14-6 overall, helped avenge a 58-50 defeat at home to the Bees before Christmas. It also moved them closer to perhaps gain the No. 1 seed in the upcoming sectional tournament.
