FAIRMONT — Speaking to fightingfalcons.com, Fairmont State golfer Jess Ferrell talks about how he won the Leo Keenan Invitational and to earn an exemption into the 2012 Greenbriar Classic by finishing second in the WV Amateur.
Despite being asked the question more times than he can count, this is one Ferrell doesn’t mind too much answering.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” said Ferrell, the 19-year-old Fairmont native who at the moment is the only West Virginia golfer in this week’s PGA Greenbrier Classic. Yes, he’s ready to see — and take on — many of the world’s best golfers. “It’s getting closer and I’m more excited every day,” he said. An upcoming junior at Fairmont State and a second team all-WVIAC selection last season, Ferrell grabbed an exemption into the Greenbrier field after tying for second place at last year’s State Amateur and beating Hurricane’s Sam O’Dell in a playoff.
