FAIRMONT —
Fairmont Senior golf is ready to defend its title today as the team faces both Preston County and Lincoln at the Fairmont Field Club starting at 10 a.m.
Monday kicked off the team’s first and final practice for the start of the regular season.
“We had a very successful practice,” said Fairmont Senior head golf coach Luke Corley. “We did the qualifying for our first matches that take place (today). With the absence of our No. 1 player who is playing in the West Virginia Amateur, Nick Sinclair, we had to fill some spots for him because he’s not going to be able to play in our first match today.”
Getting the nod today for the Polar Bears are No. 1 golfer Sterling Fitzwater; No. 2 Bailey Mohr; No. 3 Gage Hannah; No. 4 Logan Orton; No. 5 Alex Berube; and No. 6 Joel Garcia.
Sinclair is a key player who won’t be joining FSHS for the first game of the year.
