FAIRMONT —
While North Marion’s football team is still in search of win No. 1 this season, the Huskies managed to find something else during Friday’s 56-7 loss to Robert C. Byrd.
A ground game.
While running the ball and churning clock has long been a staple for the Huskies — be it 1982 Kennedy Award winner Brad King or last year’s leading rusher, Devin Miller — that hasn’t been the case this season.
On top of fielding, from top to bottom, one of the smaller North teams ever, the group also includes a starting offensive line with just one senior and four underclassmen. It’s a unit that has taken a bit to fully mesh but Friday was a step foward, at least in the eyes of coach Daran Hays.
