Huskies fighting through youth, early adversity

BUCKHANNON — Battling adversity with a young group of athletes is a tough thing to overcome.

During their 40-20 loss at Buckhannon-Upshur on Friday night, the Huskies felt like they were making strides in the right direction despite falling to 0-4 on the season.

“We did a lot better this week by making a lot of our guys just one-way starters,” said North Marion head coach Daran Hays. “We started a freshman on the line of scrimmage tonight and we started a first-year senior on the line, and we really didn’t see much of a difference. I think that we passed blocked really well even though we had a little trouble picking up blitzes. At times we struggled, but still I saw some improvement in the line of scrimmage as far as pass protection.”
