West Virginia University and the Big East have reached a conditional agreement that will allow the Mountaineers to join the Big 12 on July 1 and play football there next season, the Charleston Daily Mail reported Thursday night, citing an unidentified source.

It was Senior Night for the North Marion Huskies, and senior Paige Tuttle came up big in her final regular-season game in front of the home crowd.
While Tuttle didn’t lead the team in scoring, her play on defense and ball-handling skills helped the Huskies break open a close game in the fourth quarter on Thursday to defeat rival East Fairmont, 68-57.

It has been a bad week to be a Polar Bear, especially on the basketball court against teams from Harrison County.
Robert C. Byrd upset the Fairmont Senior boys on Wednesday, and Thursday was not much better for the Bears. Bridgeport, the No. 2-ranked girls’ team in Class AAA, visited Fairmont and left the Friendly City with a 75-34 win against No. 7 Fairmont Senior.

Seton Hill University established a new school record for points in a game in a wild, 121-104, victory over visiting Fairmont State University here Thursday evening at the Salvitti Gymnasium.
The 121 points for the Griffins broke their old mark of 118 which was set earlier this season in a 118-84 victory over Ohio Valley.

Thursday evening with the game on the line here against Seton Hill University at the Salvitti Gymnasium the Lady Falcons' junior All-American candidate came up big once again, going a perfect 4-of-4 at the foul line in the final 28 seconds to help FSU hold off the pesky Lady Griffins and record a hard-fought 70-67 victory.
