Irene Plachta

Irene Plachta, 84, of Farmington, went home to be with the Lord from her home in the loving presence of her family Monday (Feb. 11, 2013).

She was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Worthington, a daughter of the late Matthew and Stella Bienkoski.

Irene enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Katy Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Sheilah and Mike Thomas of Cary, N.C., Thomas and Sabrina Plachta of Plum Run, Karen and Paul Fox of Grafton, and Mark and Janet Plachta of Dunkard Mill; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Domico and Loretta Domico, both of Monongah, Pauline Cosco of Florida, and Wanda Allowatt of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, John W. Plachta; her oldest son, Walter J. Plachta; a brother, Edward Bienkoski; and a sister, Lucy Goldberry.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Drew Long officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington.
