Carol Jean Savonarola

Carol Jean Savonarola, 63, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday morning (Feb. 7, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Fairmont, on May 24, 1949, daughter of the late Russell L. and Maxine E. Buchanan Plyman.

Carol graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1967 and then attended Morgantown Beauty Academy. She previously worked at Stone & Thomas, formerly Parson Sauder’s at Middletown Mall, and she later worked at Sam’s Club. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Carol enjoyed cooking, baking pies and flower gardening. She enjoyed being with her family and loved family gatherings, especially the holidays. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

Carol is survived by her husband of 43 years, John A. Savonarola of Fairmont; her daughter, Mareca Ann Savonarola of Fairmont; her son, Michael A. Savonarola of Pleasant Valley and girlfriend Kelli Bland of White Hall; and her grandson, Seth Toney II. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Josie Plyman of Fairmont; niece, Jessica Plyman Gatto; nephew, Roger (Karrie) Plyman; and great-nieces and nephew Porsche Fielder-Plyman, Mackenzie Plyman and John Paul Plyman.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a dear friend, Carol A. Harris.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Maryland Avenue. Interment will be held at a later date.

A Vigil service led by Sister Stella Cronauer will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
