Delmar Fay Kendall, 91, of Flaggy Meadow Road, passed away Sunday (Feb. 3, 2013) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont.
He was born April 14, 1921 in Warrior Fork, a son of the late Herbert and Mary “Belle” Mollie Morris Kendall.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Ron and Karen Dray of Mannington. He was the last of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, Fay was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva Hixenbaugh, Vinnie Mae Kendall and Louise Trudo; and two brothers, Lee Kendall and Claude Francis “Toby” Kendall.
Fay was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. He was employed with the Marion County Board of Education and retired as a school bus driver and also from the Maintenance Department. He was also employed for well over 60 years at W.F. Jones Funeral Home and Masters Funeral Home in Mannington. He was an ambulance driver and attendant at W.F. Jones Funeral Home and an attendant at Masters Funeral Home, where he oversaw the parking area on days of funerals. He was a valuable and faithful employee. He would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone who needed him.
Fay had a heart of gold and was a genuine gentleman. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and the Mannington community.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Coon officiating. The U.S. Army and Marion County Veterans Council will conduct full military rites in the funeral home parking area at the conclusion of the service. Private interment will take place at Kendall-Snodgrass Cemetery.
