Arthur Paul Farmer, 84, of Barrackville Community, passed away Monday (Jan. 28, 2013) at the Pierpont Center at Fairmont.
He was born in Farmington on Oct. 1, 1928, a son of the late Henry and Maggie (Bray) Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Myrel G. (Collins) Farmer. The couple married in November 1949.
Paul was a coal miner by trade. He was retired from the Loveridge mine in Marion County.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Ginnina L. Eakle and her husband Josh of Richmond, Va., and Maria Lynn Bartholow and her husband Jeremy of Barrackville; two great-grandchildren, Connor Eakle and Chase Eakle; and his daughter-in-law, Susan Farmer of Fairmont.
Also surviving is a sister, Betty Swiger of Taylor County.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Marie Whipkey; his son, Rusty Farmer; and several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 4-7 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Michael Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.
