Carol Sue Cross-Thompson

Carol Sue Cross-Thompson, 48, of Millersville Community, Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Jan. 26, 2013) at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.

She was born in Fairmont on Aug. 17, 1964, a daughter of the late James Arthur and Joyce E. (Costello) Cross.

Carol Sue was a loving wife and homemaker. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a good Christian and was a faithfully member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She was a charter member of the Caring and Sharing Cancer Support Group, and she was active with Relay for Life. She and her husband were active in the local Special Olympics and on bowling teams.

She enjoyed spending time with her family going to Walmart. She also enjoyed making crafts and giving them to friends. In addition, she was a member of the WCTU and attended many conventions. Carol Sue delighted in attending church camps.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Thompson of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Austin Bert Cross and Minnie Elizabeth (Hall) Cross; her maternal grandparents, Roy L. Costello and Macel (Moyers) Costello; two brothers in infancy; and her mother-in-law, Mary Thompson.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by two aunts, Rose Marie Williams of Fairmont and Olive Cross; an uncle, Butch Moore of Fairmont; her father-in-law, John Thompson; a sister-in-law, Amanda Thompson; four brothers-in-law, Rocky Thompson, Johnny Thompson, Jackie Thompson and Steven Thompson, all of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by several cousins and many good and dear friends along with her precious pets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont ,on Monday from 1-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Graham officiating. Interment will follow at the Clermont Cemetery in Marion County.
