Michael Armstead

Michael Devaughn Armstead, 53, of Fairmont, made his transition to be with God, his parents and other loved ones Wednesday (Jan. 9, 2013).

Michael was born Oct. 20, 1959, to the late Robert and Zelda Gay Armstead. Michael attended Temple of Christ Church of Fairmont, which was founded and ministered by his grandmother, Pastor Queen Esther Armstead.

His formal education was completed at Miller Junior High and graduated from West Fairmont Senior High of Fairmont. He was employed by Chessic Railroad System that allowed him to work in multiple cities: Fairmont, Philadelphia, Pa., and Maryland.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories and love three daughters, Tawndelay Robinson of Charleston, Seritha Hall of Morgantown, and Mikelle Paige of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Laydrian, Mike and Nate Robinson of Charleston; siblings, including one brother, Anthony “Tony” Armstead (Donna) of Morgantown, and two sisters, Doris Armstead (Ronald) Turner of Fairmont and Carol Armstead of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by one brother, Robert “Bobbie Jr.” Armstead; his paternal grandparents, James and Queen Esther Armstead; maternal grandparents, Aaron and Hazel Holloway; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael was cremated Jan. 13, 2013. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
